Write for us

We welcome clear, original pitches that help readers understand association football. Contributions should explain a distinct rule, role, tactical idea or match pattern without assuming specialist knowledge.

What makes a good pitch

Start with the reader's question and state the central idea in a few sentences. Explain why the subject matters to watching or understanding the game, how you would make it clear, and what makes your approach distinct. One focused subject is stronger than a broad survey.

Writing approach

We value precise definitions, careful distinctions and examples that clarify rather than overwhelm. Avoid unsupported claims, club promotion and match predictions. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; we may edit accepted work for clarity and house style.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page to send your pitch, a brief outline and any relevant writing sample. Please include enough detail for us to assess the idea; do not send confidential material or assume that unsolicited work will be published.
